Please show me pictures of tanks with A LOT of xenia

Well I let it get out of control. Short of taking out every single rock AND scraping it off the glass it is not going anywhere any time soon.

My family keeps telling me it is pretty.....yeah just like the brown poop palys :/

Sooo I am trying to make myself feel better. It does look pretty, it sways and opens its polyps...bllllaaaahh blah blah

Please please show me tanks with copious amount of xenia so I do not feel alone!

(or tell me how to get rid of it other than manually because that is not happening (it is all over the place, you cannot see in this pic). I am lazy. I would rather wait for something to crash and kill it than re-do this tank)

I got it as my first coral. I was so excited. $2! Now I know why. At least it is a nutrient sink. I also let the brown poop palys, yellow polyps, and kenya tree take over too. What is WRONG WITH ME?!?!?

Since I know it will proliferate, and I do not like weeds (I am sure some folks like it), I do not add that type of animal to my tanks.

That would be mine. It is a 65 with 3 dwarf angels, blenny, and a yellow candy hogfish. I personally don't like the stuff -- ha. But, that tank is in the "office" and the girlfriend works from home, and loves the stuff, so....

I think it's beautiful. But I trim mine back every couple of months. It stays in it's own little area. I find the maintenance to be very minor in the grand scheme of things I do.

ugh mine does too.

it was quite a lift convincing mine that the xenia needed to go. i was finally able to sell her on it by yanking it all from the tank while she was out getting her hair done one day, so i knew she would come home in a good mood.

then i bought her a nice big pecitinia she had been wanting for a while.

I turn off my flow and pump so that I can easily extract pieces later that I might not grab, but I literally get down to the base as much as possible with something like coral scissors. I may even burn off the stalks with my majano wand (which kind of gooifies them). I'm sure it releases some nutrients and they may release stuff to fight back, but it's not the end of the world. If I can easily take out the rock they are on and do it, I do it.

The whole process takes maybe 15 minutes for me.

She puts up with the other 2 tanks, and I am going to get a "big" tank when we rearrange the basement, so I can't complain too much. Of course it is the only coral that my 3 dwarf angels won't touch.

I just use a razor blade -- for the glass and overflow. Giant tweezers for the stuff on the rocks, though don't do that very often, kind of a pain.

I tried to sell her on a dedicated anemone and Xenia tank for the clowns, but she wasn't having it.
It was a little rough, but we worked it out.

It's nice that she is in to the fish, not all the nuances of the hobby of course, but she does love our tank. I just had to walk her through replacing a heater that died because I am stuck at the office.

I had a single tiny stalk grow out from the base of a maricultured coral. I have it isolated to one rock and the wall. I want to dump it, my wife likes it. I'm nervous

Isolation is helpful, but mine would sometimes eject small clusters of polyps. They would take the current and be gone, so keep an eye on it.
