eshopps 300 overflow LOUD!

I have an Eshopps 300 overflow that is making a really loud gurgling sound. I read a post on here that said you put the smaller sponge inside of your pvc pipe. When I do this my overflow box starts to fill to the top like it's going to flood. Anyone have any other ideas or a clue on what I'm doing wrong?

What gph return are you using? You can try putting a gate valve on your return and throttling it back a bit. Your return might be pushing more water than your overflow can handle

I had do what was suggested with the ball valve deal. I found the center medium and my tank is silent. I didnt glue mine, just pressed it on so If i had to take it out I could. If you can make sure the ball valve is right above your sump. Otherwise you will have to glue it so it doesnt drip.

I have a mag 7 pump running as my return. Anyone have any experience with the Hofer Gurgle Buster?

I have had a hofer on my Eshopps 800 for four years now. It sometimes gurgles, but it's quiet and hearing it lets me know that all well with the tank.

Looking at getting one of these. I have a 65 gal and and can't decide between the 300 or 800.

putting about a foot of air hose/tubing down my drain completely killed the gurgle on my eshopps.
