My tank is only six weeks old and I have been experiencing my first Diatom bloom (which is normal for a new tank I guess). Anyway, if you are talking about that brown slime on your tank glass, than yes, I would say it is Diatoms.
I've been looking at it for over a week in my tank so I'm pretty sure that is what you have. My CUC is doing a good job with it and it looks like it is going away.

I see some Zoas, a Kenya, and some mushrooms.
The algae on the glass could be Diatoms or it could be some other algae. Does it blow off with a baster or does it need to be scrubbed? Looks like it needs to be scrubbed and that would be the start of coralline in my opinion. I get the crusted greenish/brown algae on my glass and in a few days it turns purple.
