Sailfin Tang Sick!
Help! My Sailfin Tang is sick! He was sucked onto a powerhead when I woke up this morning (now that I think back to last night, he didn't look so good). I put him into a different tank and he's just floating at the top. He is having a very hard time breathing. He basically closes his gills and opens them again quickly twice in 3 seconds. What can I do?!?!
Params are all fine. 0, 0, 0. Phos is .025 or so. 180g mixed reef. I did lose 2 anemones over the last 2 weeks (Every time I put an anemone in the tank it dies within 12 hours.) I got every bit of them that I could find out of the tank. It appears to have gone through the powerhead (it was just fine last night... so I don't get it.) |

Nothing. Its probably to late. Moving a very sick fish to another tank, in my experience, is to much stress and the end. Sorry

What can I do in the future to prevent this? What could have happened? I've had him for 4 or 5 months.

The anemone's dying sound very suspicious. What kind of lighting do you have? Have you used any copper based treatments in the past?

I have 3 125w LED fixtures. Anemones wouldn't die within 12 hours or less due to lighting. All my other fish are doing 100% fine. Last edited by Pko9876; 02/13/2014 at 10:17 AM. |

Didn't mean to sound harsh. No, don't let him get sucked into the powerhead. Any fish that is sucked into a power head is one of two issues, fish is in really bad shape, or powerhead is way to powerful.
I can't tell you why the sailfin would have gone down hill. |
