Skimz Eden pump replacement
Has anyone toyed with modifying a Bubble Blaster or Sicce PSK pump to replace the Eden pump on your Skimz skimmer? The Eden pumps are quite expensive, and very difficult to come. I'm thinking about it just to be proactive about a replacement if I ever need one.

I tried a Tunze hydrofoamer 9410 on a Skimz SK181 which is probably very similar to a Sicce. I wasn't able to mount it internally but did end up with an external mount. I probably would have been better off with the 9420. A pump you might consider trying is the AquaMaxx Shark 2.0 or 3.0 (at MarineDepot) depending on which Skimz you have. It's a modified Sicce return pump that they use in the EM series skimmers.

Aquacave does sell the replacement Eden pumps for the Skimz, but they are expensive.
I too would be interested in knowing if anyone has used another brand of pump in the Skimz with success. I have the SM-161, and just had my pump replaced under warranty with Aquacave.....the cord broke off right at the pump, no way to fix it. |
