Cycling a tank

Just wondering if I should have the lights on or off durning this process

Lights on = algae bloom. There's no real benefit to having them on while you cycle, but an algae bloom is the worst thing that would happen.

Lights off unless you have photosynthetic corals on your live rock you are hoping to have survive the cycle.

Lights off. Saves you electricity and from an algae bloom
