Quick MP10 placement question
As the title says, just a quick MP10 placement question. I have attached 2 simple paint pictures I have made at work. lol! The return is pointed slightly upwards and slighty towards the overflow. (couldnt figure out how to manually rotate the arrow less than 90 degrees) Let me know what you think, what is best, or if it doesnt even matter. #1 or #2? Thanks guys!
I personally like #1 as it would be on the side that faces a wall and not the open living room. Tank details below if it helps in any way: 36 gallon bow front EShopps PF-300 overflow EShopps RS-75 sump EShopps PSK-75 skimmer NextReef MR1 Reactor (AC/GFO) Coralife 9w UV Cobalt 150w heater 2x Marineland 400 maxi jets (Being replaced by the single MP10) Last edited by Joeb1983; 03/11/2014 at 09:40 AM. |

I would go for number 1 myself, that way you should get a nice random effect where the flow of the MP10 meets the return flow. Especially good if you use the various settings on the MP10.

I have tried my MP10 on both sides and the back and I would go with the first option which puts your pump on the wall side. I didn't see a bog difference ib the tank flow in general but you must consider your critter placement scheme. The side with the pump will have more undertow while the opposite will be more forceful.

Thanks for the replies guys! I contacted Rob over at EcoTech and he said, "I personally place them on the oposite side of the return, but honestly it really does not matter".
So... #1 it is! |

Installed the MP10 this evening and this thing is powerful! A lot more than I thought. Had to play around with placement a bit to find a spot where it was not beating my corals to death. It is currently set on the popular reef crest mode at around 70%.
It is placed on the overflow side, 4" down from the top and more towards/closer the front than the back. We will see how things go. So far so good! Better be for the $$$! lol! |

Lots of people feel the reef crest mode is too powerful and swap for others, have a play about with it and see what suits your tank.
