Super Reef Octopus lx2000s HOB
1st Time post
I need help making a decision. I need a quality protein skimmer, but I'm trying to avoid purchasing a piece of equipment that is overkill for my bio-load/tank. My Choices are down to: -Super Reef Octopus lx2000s HOB. rated Well Stocked 100 gal. $450.00 -Super Reef Octopus lx1000s HOB. rated Well Stocked 75 gal. $350.00 -Reef Octopus BH2000. I have no Heavy Bio-load rating for this one. BRS Recommends this skimmer for tanks up to 100 gallons. $200.00 75 gallon (Fish/LPS) 7-Cardinals 3-Juvenile Yellow Tangs 2-yellow tail damsels 1-Watchman gobie 1-Black Cap Jawfish Cleaner crew is below average size for tank. -Currently 70 pounds of Fiji live rock & Marshall Island live rock. (Will be adding around 50lbs more.) 3 powerheads. Last edited by Caviness81; 03/12/2014 at 01:51 PM. |

Uh oh watch out 3 yellow tangs in a 75 gallon? Have you looked at other options of skimmers? Bubble Magus Curve 5? Or are you looking something strictly hanging off the back?

Go with the larger of the two. In my opinion aquarium companies have a tendency to exaggerate size for skimmers and filters. its usually good to go one higher then what they say their product is recommended for
