Mag Float Scraper

I just bought a Mag Float with metal scraper and everytime I get near the corners of my glass tank, the scraper will peel off a bit of the silicone. Its right on the edge and I try to not get close the silicone, but even with the other side of the mag float, it has taken a piece of the silicone by accident.

My question is, will this affect the stability of the tank? Its not near the joint of the two pieces of glass, but is taking away some of the silicone. Does the whole strip of silicone keep the joint together or just near where the two pieces join?

I used one if these and noticed the same thing. I also noticed some major scratches in my glass.

Yes over time it will affect the longevity of the aquarium. I would try to stay at least 1 inch away from the silicone if you're having issues and use something else to clean the silicone area.
