Chiller help from the pros for a fresh water guy
Hey all I am about to start up a reef tank once settled in the new house. In the mean time I am in need of a chiller for. 48.8 gallon fresh water invert tank. I need to keep the temp about 72. I am looking for feedback on good not great super expensive ones. It is for fresh water, also looking for a round about figure of how much my electric bill will jump. I live in sacramento ca
Thanks again for your help, and I know all reefers are pros when it comes to chillin! |

Your electric bill will really vary on how much the chiller runs. That can vary so much. It's based on lights used, heat from pumps and room temperature are a few.
When I ran metal halide lights my chiller would run for 5-10 minutes an hour to keep the temp 78 |

Pretty much any of these
http://www.marinedepot.com/In_Line_A...FICHIN-ct.html As far as power consumption, you can get a ballpark figure by multiplying the wattage of the chiller by the hours it will run by your electric rate.
