That is Coraline algae. It is not a nuisance algae, that is the algae you want.

If those purple spots look like they've been painted on the rock, it's most likely coralline algae. If they seem to protrude from the rocks, they're probably Foraminiferans. (harmless)

What cloak is trying to say, either way they are good Coralline algae is often sought after as it gives the rocks a nice colorful contrast to the different corals.
