RO DI help please!

Hi everyone,

Please can you tell me if I'm on the right track with this RO DI unit? Does it have all the chambers/stages needed?

Many thanks!

That unit is fine. There are a couple of add-ons I would purchase:
A duel TDS meter is nice to let you see how well your filters are performing.
A pressure gauge at the inlet and another after the 2nd stage filter. This will allow you to know when to change out the 10 micron filter and the carbon block.
I like to add a second DI resin canister. With a single DI canister as soon as you start to see your TDS rise you need to change out your DI resin. The resin isn't completely spent at this point, so you are not getting full use out of the resin. If you keep a second DI resin canister in line you can wait until the first canister is completely spent, then move the #2 canister into the #1 position and put a canister of new resin in the #1 position. This isn't necessary but it will pay for itself quickly by making your resin last longer.

You might want to consider better sediment and carbon filters 1 micron sediment and 5 micron carbon.

Also consider getting a dual in line TDS meter to monitor the TDS of water going into the DI and coming out of the DI. This will keep you informed as to the functioning of the filters and the DI resin.

Thank you all for your replies, that's really helpful. I was getting a bit snowed under with all the info I had tried to read!

I need to look into the TDS meters, I hadn't heard of them until now, I like the idea of the second DI canister too, I use a DI unit at work and we have the problem of throwing away the half-used media.

I'm not sure if Bulk Reef Supply ships to the UK or not, but they sell all the add on items I listed and then some. They also have 5 or 6 nice videos explaining how to set up and maintain an RO/DI system that are worth your time to watch.

Unfortunately BRS don't ship to the UK

I have just bought the unit in the link, plus a pressure gauge and dual TDS meter. Just need to get tap connections now (I'm in a rented house) and I'll be good to go!

Thanks for all your help!
