Cyanobacteria outbreak!!!!!
So I have about a 7 wk old bio cube with the clean up crew only at this point. At first I had thought it was a diatom outbreak but with the shiny and crusty appearance my AWESOME LFS said it was this bacteria due to likely not enough flow- did a water change (even though all my parameters were fine) and added chemiclean and it's almost gone this am.
I had had one power head so I got another.... BUT how do you know if there is enough flow through the entire tank???? There is a great current at the top but I can't tell on the bottom |

You want a minimum of 20 times your display tank size in GPH of flow.

Thegrun, with 20x the display tank size in flow, are you talking turnover rate (return pump) or random powerhead/wave maker flow? I am having a small cyano outbreak as well, so I am following along here.
I am having a hard time getting my powerhead flow up without blowing my corals like crazy. |

I have now 2 koraline powerheads + the stock pump |

In a 250G tank, that would be 5000GPH. My Dolphin Amp Master 4750 is 4750GPH for example.
If the pump is sized right, you should only need 1-2 more technically. But it is more about dead spots as I understand it, which is why the oscillating pumps are very cool. |
