Current tank cycling

Tank has been cycling for a little less than 3 weeks. Have 10lb live rock, about 40lb of rock that was dried out, and live sand bed about 1 - 1.5 inch deep. It's a 100 gallon tank.

May 2
Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate
0.25 ppm 0 40ppm

May 4
Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate
0.15 ppm 0 20ppm

May 8
Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate
0.05 ppm 0 20ppm

I have did a bit of ghost feeding every few days.

Lots of diatom .. sand and all over rocks.

Thoughts?

Looks good, so far. Are you up for some advice? You are very light on your LR and LS. Not alot of surface area for bacteria to live and breed. What will probably happen, it will be fine for a light bioload. I know that's not going to happen. You didn't buy a 100 gal tank to keep a couple of clowns. As you add more fish and other poop producing livestock. Your system will go into a mini cycle and harm or kill your livestock. I would suggest to add another 50 lbs of LR. Hope I could help. Good luck.

I bought 10lb of live rock from LFS that was in water, etc. I had another 40-50lb live rock that was provided to me, but it was dried outside of a tank, etc. So, in total, I have about 65lb rock. Sand bed is pretty high .. we put lots of bags in .. I will have to pull up notes about how many LB's.

I can't imagine adding more live rock .. I don't want a display of rock .. aquascape looks pretty solid now.

Sounds alittle bit more manageable.

diatoms are part of the cycle in some tanks .. they will fade away as soon as the cycle ends

Typically 1 lb per gallon is what is used.
