Durso drain question

I have a 180 with two overflows that have durso drains. For the last 3 or 4 weeks the drain has been making a gurgling sound every 30 to 40 seconds.

I am not sure, but it may have started about the same time that I added filter socks tho the drain tubes.

Whatcha y'all think?

How deep into your sump are your drain lines?

They call this the toilet effect. Raise your drain lines up to be about 1" below the surface, this will reduce the back pressure on your drains and let them flow smoothly.

Is that gurgling sound the water pulling away from the vaccum?

Problem solved. I am not sure the repliers know what a durso drain is,

They air inlet at the top of the drains became clogged from salt creep therefore interfering with the siphon. Unplug the air holes and all is quiet on the western front.

I keep a test tube cleaning brush in my stand for just that purpose. When I do my water changes I run the brush in the air holes.
