Modified Durso opinions needed.

Do to size restrictions in the overflow of my CADlights 39g I am proposing this...

Anyone see why it should not work the same? I just can't have the cap where I would normally be due to the return lines.

All help appreciated!!

I can make it fit in its normal configuration if I make the drain shorter. If I make it shorter than I get the water fall sound in my overflow.

Slow the return and there won't be a sound

Should my drain into the sump be submerged or just above the water line to make the gurgle stop?

Splashing or submerged both make their own noise.
