Emperor Smart UV LITE 40 Watt??

What suggestions do you have for a pump with this UV sterilizer?

Manual states 589GPH to 983GPH which is a big difference.

I am using this on a 100 gallon tank, running in between the sump skimmer and the return.

Thanks

Use the lowest factory recommended GPH. Or even lower than that. You need to give time for UV to sterilize.

it also depends on what else you want to use that pump for? Just UV? or are you planning to run reactors, etc.

I plan on running the UV on a separate pump as my reactor runs way too slow,

I would run it at 600 GPH or less. Anything above that it won't be too effective on anything but bacteria. My suggestion is to run it at 200-300 GPH, and you should see an excellent UV dose. Make sure to mount the UV with the inlet and outlet ports facing directly upwards.

The lower flow in the range is for sterilization and maximum kill effect. The higher end of the range is for water polishing. If you are using the UV to kill parasites, then run at the lower end of the range. It will also kill pods as well. As you go higher in the flow range, the kill factor will decline allowing things like pods to pass through it without being killed. At the higher end of the range, the primary use would be for water clarity with a very low kill ratio. I tend to run my UV's at the higher end of the range unless it's a fish only system in which case, I run low flow.
