Buying livestock from local reefers

I've bought lots of equipment from local reefers but never any livestock. I was just wondering how do I go about transporting livestock from another person's house. Where would I buy those fish bags that the LFS uses and does the bag need to be filled with air like they do at the LFS?

Usually, the seller provides the transport container. For corals, styrophome cups with lids are fine. Fish are usually transported in bags.

I always bring a little 6pack igloo cooler with me whenever I buy frags. If I'm selling, I always provide the container. What they carry it home in is up to them.

Ok so I take it that it doesn't have to be filled with oxygen like they do at the LFS? Or just not for corals?

How far do you need to go? If you live fairly close to each other, there's no need for oxygen IME. An hours drive should be no problem at all. The heat might be a different story though.

Ice chests, 5 gallon buckets, zip lock bags, tupperware containers , etc. Whatever will work.

Plastic coffee cans lidded tucked in a cooler work well for short tripsfor corals. For fish holes in the lid are helpful.
