Sump help for a 125 gallon!
Hi, I'm planning on using the Eshopps R-200 for a sump with the Eshopps over-flow box PF-1000. With the flex tubing they have. I need help finding an ideal return pump as I have no idea what I'm even looking for. It needs to fit inside the 5" x 13-1/2" space in the last compartment. I need it to be quiet. Any help would be awesome, thank you.

I've been using the RO Diablo DC 10500, on my 125 gal. for nine months. These DC pumps are relatively new and there are a number of different brands out there (Wave Line, Speed Wave and the RO Diablo to name a few). So far, I've not experienced any issues with this pump and the DC pumps are very quiet. The only thing I hear in my sump is the skimmer. Good luck with your build.

Sicce Syncra 3.0 if you have 1" plumbing.

I currently have an Eheim compact+ 5000 as my return and am pretty happy with it... small size and pretty quiet. It also has adjustable flow rate if you need to dial it back and don't want to use a a valve to restrict flow. I also an Eheim 1262 running a closed loop but I find it to be louder and vibrate more than the 5000 and that's with some neoprene under it (is also a space hog). I initially had a 1262 as my return but the vibration from it was driving me nuts with the tank right next to the couch in the living room.
Finally, I have a Waveline DC4000 running my manifold. This is my favorite pump, and I'd eventually like to replace the other 2 with DC pumps. It's very quiet (slightest hum that can't be heard over anything else), has a small size, and the variable speed controller is a nice feature. I turn off circulation pumps everyday when I target feed... unplugging everything is a pain. My tank is also 125 gallons. |
