light hanger stands!

i am looking for something that i can mount to the back of my stand, that reaches up and extends out over the top of my aquarium that then allows me to hang my lights from. very similar to this aquatic life hanging fixture.

i wish i could order this and just be done, but it only extends 11.5", i think i need something more like 20".

any other companies make something similar? anything that i could find at home depot or lowes?

thanks for the help!

yes you can! I built mine out of aluminum, very easy to make. Let me try to find a link to the company that sells the materials.

Find an electrician and have them bend you some EMT conduit

Just FYI, you can also go to Home Depot and they will have the tubing bender right there in the same aisle as the conduit. When I did mine, I went to home depot with rough measurements, grabbed a length of conduit, walked over to the bender and put a 90 degree bend in it. I was going to ask if it was OK, but no sales people to be found so I figured it was a good excuse to do it yourself. Went to the register and paid for the conduit and all was good. I think it cost around $3.00

I had a worker walk up and give me a hand bending two pieces of conduit in the middle of home depot, then he looked around and whispered "I was never here" and walked away. Two pieces of bent conduit, some conduit straps, and some black paint. Done and Done.

No, not at all. Many people use EZ Tubes for their light racks.

It's very simple to make.

1" Aluminum tubing, end caps, 90deg connectors.

Mine is holding a 48" ATI Sunpower 6 bulb fixture which is much heavier then your standard LED fixture. They can also cut it for you for a small fee.

You can also check out 80/20 aluminum framing, they sell parts on Ebay. I've been using the 15 smooth series for over two years now and it looks very sleek.

you could do the same with the electrical conduit from homedepot. it should not cost more than 10 to do. I have built several of those using electrical conduit. paint it with spray paint and you are good to go.

80/20 way better looking than conduit. Not really high dollar either. Conduit doesn't pass the spouse factor in my house.
