What do you need for corals
So like I was looking at every thing that you need for coral and there's lot of stuff that you need (temperature, ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, density, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium' strontium, iron, iodine, phosphate, and silicate) Are these all important or are some just for some types coral

I have a tank with a mixture of SPS, LPS, softies and zoas.
As long as you have a good salt mix (e.g. I use Reef Crystals) you should be ok for most corals. Especially if starting with small frags. I monitor temp and ph with my controller. I test for salinity with a refractometer. I only test for the "big 3": calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium weekly. I only test for ammonia, nitrate and nitrites while cycling a tank. Honestly, I started with softies and zoas/palys but didn't really start testing for the "big 3" until I added LPS and SPS corals. All the other trace elements should be ok with a good salt mix. Good luck and have fun! |
