over flow over filled
So with the way I have my tank plumbed if my two drains ever clog I will have a mess on my floor from my return pump pumping all the water in my sump to my DT. Is there a way I can change that. What brought this up was I dumped 24 gallons of water on my floor after I forgot to unplug my pump when I was working on the drain lines. . thank you for the help

Something like this pump stopper kit would be perfect for your application, I think:

I am excited to get this. I'm so mad at my self for what I did. But it opened my eyes to the danger of what could happen

The last chamber of your sump shouldn't be that large. Just approximating on mine, but I'd say the return pump chamber of the sump under my 220 only holds 6 gallons, and the return pump chamber of the sump under my 150 might hold 4 gallons. Both of those amounts could easiliy fit on top of what is in the display if the drains were to clog. Just another failsafe, just like having enough space in the sump to catch the back siphon in the event of a return pump shutoff. |

If my pump shuts of I have plenty of room for the water coming out of the DT. However I was always told to have the return chamber as big as possible. I should have explained better. I used to run dual sumps. One on top of another. The return sump(on bottom) was 29 gallons. I have since switched to a single 29 gallon(but am building a 55 gallon sump right now).my new return section hold 6.8 gallons. But it Wi still flood my tank if my drains clog

Can the pump stopper kit be used in reverse too? I.e. Can you add another float switch to turn the pump off if the return chamber runs dry? Say you are on vacation and the ATO fails or empties its reservior?
