What's the Best Way to Connect Sump to Non-Drilled Tank?
What is the best way to connect a sump to a non-drilled tank?
I recently got an all glass tank that's not drilled but it also has a glass lip on the back and front edges, about an inch down. The lip seems to make any hang on back solutions not feasible. Although, I'm tempted to take that back one off. Other than drilling, what other solutions are out there? Thanks in advance. |

It's rimless? An overflow box won't work?

I don't know if you can see this in the picture but there is a two-inch wide piece of glass siliconed near the top edge of the front of this tank. Mine has one of those on both the front and back sides of the tank.

if its bracing , its there for a reason. cutting it will affect the integrity of the tank unless just notching the glass and not removing it

yeah, kinda. I don't know it's exact purpose but yes, only front and back. I've been looking into overflow boxes, that you mentioned. That seems like a good way, if I can find one that fits in the corner, maybe.

if the brace, and that is what is sounds like to me so I wouldnt cut it, is only on the front and back you could hang an over flow box on the side near the back. Wouldn't look as clean if it were in the back but it would make adding a sump doable.

What is the thickness of the glass? Seems like a home made tank or half finished earthquake retro. Nice tank BTW

I don't recall AGA making rimless tanks - definitely not half way eurobraced. This must be a modified tank - scary.
