drilling aqueon tanks from petco?
Petco has a dollar a gallon sale going. Looking to buy a couple 55 and make a sump and refugium out of separate tanks. Can the front glass be drilled?

They are no longer Aqueon, they are Tetra brand tanks, the build quality is substantially lower than the Aqueon/All Glass. However, I believe the only tempered pane on the 55g is the bottom and the side can be drilled. I actually just drilled one of the $1/g 20g tanks.

Not sure about now, but I remember reading that the 55 was the only tank that ALL panels were tempered. Would 40 breeders work? I do believe you can drill those tanks.

I have drilled many of PETCO's 40G Breeders with no problems. Last one was six months ago.

The Tetra 40 breeders are tempered on the bottom, but I drilled a bean animal overflow on a side pane recently with no issue.

I can confirm the 55 is all tempered. Went and got one. No 40 breeders left

Tetra tanks are 3/16" glass vs 1/4" so just avoid putting to much pressure on the glass and let the hole saw do the work. |
