Power head recommendations
I have recently set up a innovative marine nuvo 38. I was just wanting to know opinions on which ones to get apart from the highly like vortech mp10s

I've been using some of the Koralia power heads for quite awhile without any problems.

Yeah, mine do that from time to time, but a good nudge from a chopstick or something usually gets them on the right track. It's never really been a big deal IME.

I've got two Koralia powerheads. I've never had one start backwards.

I have a Jebao WP40 and WP25 and like them a lot so far, but I've only had them for a few months so I can't comment on their long term reliability.

They usually start running backwards if they lose the little rubber bumper inside the cage and then you turn it off or you lose power. As mentioned above if you stick something in it, it will correct itself. I've also heard of people gluing an eraser in place of the missing bumper to keep it from running backwards.

I haven't compared them side by side with an MP40, but they seem quiet to me and can't be heard over my canopy PC fans which are very quiet to begin with.
I can say that I can hear them spool up when they're in Else mode - which is a random pattern wave. |

I vote for the jebao. Lots of options and a decent price.

They can start backwards because they are ac pumps. But if you make sure you buy the evolution ones they have a rubber stopper in them that prevents them from running in reverse. That being said the stopper can break and it happened to me. I called hydor in California and they mailed me 2 replacement housings free of charge. |

If you can spend the cash go for the vortech's. If you want awesomeness and affordability go with sicce. They never start backwards. Never make a sound. And have 360 degree mounting options. Medium price tag and have been running strong on a wave maker for 1.5 yrs now.
