Vertex Omega 150
Hi everyone,
I have a Vertex Omega 150 and I was wondering how high the big bubbles are supposed to be? When I adjust it to get past the neck it pulls mostly water and not skimmate. Right now its sitting in about 7 inches of water. It does skim dark skimmate but not like the Euroreef it replaced. Is this how its supposed to be? Thanks! |

I have mine really low, if the bubble head collapsed it would be at the thick white ring below the cup.

Yeah, they don't work like a Euro reef.

Okay thanks!
I had it set so that the little bubbles turn into big ones at the neck and that's too high =p |

Try to lower the bubbles in the body of the skimmer until they start to rise like a elavator up the neck, not like alka seltzer in full glass of water.

saw a video where guy has the 150 in 5.5" of water. this could also help slow the velocity of the bubble and allow for more adjustment. It wont hurt to try something like less sump depth.

I just got one of these this week on my 120 mixed reef.
I had the bubbles too high in the neck and was skimming way too wet. I turned it way down and it is working great |
