UVL VHOs, Does anyone know whats up?

Everyone is out of stock. I use these bulbs on several of my tanks. I cant find the Actinic bulbs????? Does anyone know what the hell. I am worried they have discontinued them. If that is the case they could at least tell us.

Does anyone have information from UVL?

- Mark

BRS, Aquacave, Marine Depot, they all seem to have stock as of 5 seconds ago. How hard did you look?

I looked close enough to know that all of those sources are out of stock. So you don't know anything either?

If anyone has information from UVL please share. The Actinic bulbs have only been available on the small sizes for several months now. It appears they are selling off stock and they may not be producing them

I guess I didn't ask what size you were looking for, bigger than 48" have always been more scarce. Not as high of a demand so fewer are produced and sold.

I don know that UVL will sell you a full case directly if you can't find them from distributors. (12 as I recall)

I don't think you all understand. All of the large suppliers have been unable to get 72 inch bulbs for the last three months. If they can't get them I can't. I just went to aqua cave and they do claim to have them and they may I see they raised the price on them maybe knowing that only they have them. Fosters seems to have the 60 inch bulbs at the normal price to a sale price. I may just switch to the 60s. I am worried they are not making the actinic bulbs anymore and the suppliers are just selling existing stock of the smaller bulbs.

Why don't you call UVL to set your mind at ease or confirm your suspicions so that you can then develop an exit plan?

I even went so far as to obtain the 800 # for you and put in post # 5.....

I only use 36", but Champion Lighting has the 72" T12s in actinic.

I contacted UVL directly a couple of years ago to confirm that they would not be phasing out VHO with the government regs on bulbs. They said absolutely not. These are specialty bulbs and exempt from the regulation.

These bulbs are great when you can get them. They aren't being phased out its just that UV Lighting never has them in stock.
