Sanity check for 40G breeder plan...

Looking for more experienced opinions on my current plan to set up a FOWLR40 gallon breeder. In particular, things I haven't thought of or need to consider.

I have an HOB filter rated for 50 gallons, two 240gph Koralia powerheads, and I'm getting the Reef Octopus BH-1000 skimmer. I also have a simple, one gallon capacity Finnex HOB refugium w/a water pump so I can maintain enough water flow. I plan on filling it with MarinePure spheres and chaeto. Was also planning on adding a sand bed in the HOB refugium. Should I?
It came with a clip-on LED. I'll run that light at night and the DT light during the day of course.

Plan on starting with 40 lbs of LR because I want some nice open space and not just a pile of rocks. No sump planned.

I'll have about an inch of a large crushed coral/fine sand mix.

My lid is a hinged, glass top and the lighting unit just rests right on top of it. Is there a danger of too much heat being generated?

Thanks for any thoughts/info you can provide! I won't have this tank up and running until I finish buying the rest of my equipment (including a new RO/DI).

Sounds like a plan.

no sand in fuge, just LR and chaeto or other macroalgae. sounds good to me but don't use the carbon and felt pads that come with the HOB because they become nitrite factories. for the same reason don't use a bio wheel if you have one. you might want to look into a jeabo wp 25 for your tank its about $60 and well worth it for the flow and versatility it offers. more flow= less detritus on rock= healthier system
