The new lamp is a newer design. They are the same lamp. The lamp manufacturer changed the bulb shape to reduce the outer bulb temperature. Some 400 watt lamps had issues with the outer bulb melting or deforming.

The lamp manufacturer came out with the new fat bulb a while ago. Some places have a mix of the old and new bulbs. The internals are identical. A few other lamp manufacturers also have changed to the fatter bulb design.
