Question LED Suggestions 120g

Looking for LED options for a 120g build.

I am thinking about two Orphek Atlantik DIF100 pendants, but have not seen any new information on them even after MACNA.

Any suggestions?

I used a Reefbreeders Photon 48 on my 120 (same dimensions) and loved it. I swapped out some of the warm white LEDs for 14K and 20K diodes and loved the change in color.

I was able to pick up a pair of used Radions super cheap on CL so I went with those. The G1, I added the TIR lenses and love them.

I have been using 2 AI Sol blues on my mixed 120g for 2 years or so....I don't understand how people turn these up to 100%, I certainly can't....I would bleach everything.

3 hydra52 6" off the water on my 190g 60/27/27, if I centered over the tank they would have been fine but I moved them closer to the front so I could add 3 more in the back half. Colors are good with these lights too.
You could prolly just use 2 on your tank and it would be fine.

Mine's only been up for a year, but I agree - mine are set to 45W/65B/65RB and corals are growing like crazy with (at least IMO) great color

Great suggestions! Please keep the posts coming! Lots of people use different intensities, lens sizes, and height placement for their LEDs. Can we get some posts on how these three affect each other and what are the recommendations for these criteria on the common 120g 48x24x24.

I'm running 3 hydra 52 and 2 39 watt T5 HO bulbs. They are mounted in a floating canopy 9 inches above the water.

With the power of the 52 I could use only 2 and mount them a bit higher for better spread, but I have 3 so I'm using 3.

Okay, 9 inches above the water. And are you running them at full intensity?

Full power would be a bit too much I think. I'm only at 20% on red, white, and green. 30% on violet and UV, and 60% for royal blue and deep blue. IIRC I'm getting 400+ par to my upper corals and around 100 par at the bottom of the tank.

Thanks for the above.

I'm running 2 PR72s maybe six or eight inches above the water. I run them from 0 - 80% over two hours. Not sure if 80% is too much for most of the day. Anyone familiar with the PR72s?

Also, anyone care to discuss lens angles? It seems like some manufacturers recommend a more narrow lens and hanging the light higher up while others recommend a wider lens hung lower. What are the advantages and disadvantages and why?

If going Orphek wouldn't you be better with the Atlantik V2b ?

Not really what I am looking for with my budget and assuming you need two of them to cover a 120g. Also, I have not made up my mind yet which brand to go with for my 120g. The PR72s are staying on my 46g.

Kessil makes a narrow and a wide angle lens, the AI Hydra 52 has 80 degree lenses, and Ecotech has 80 degree and 120 degree lenses. My experience is with 120 degree lenses for older DIFs and 60 degree lenses with the PR72s. Are the correct comparisons?

Would like to know more about these variations to understand what's best for my tank and purposes. I have a lot of Tonga multibranch rock and plan on it being a mixed reef and having a go at some Acro and clams.

They generally say the narrower lenses are for deeper tanks. It seems like some manufacturers recommend a more narrow lens and hanging the light higher up while others recommend a wider lens hung lower. What are the advantages and disadvantages and why?
