QT diamond goby
Haven't kept one of these in a while, so I just thought I'd outline my QT protocol for advice/suggestions.
I'm gonna run him thru TT, followed by 4 weeks of observation. While doing TT, I really don't want to mess with sand. Is this going to be a problem for 13 days? Once he goes into the observation tank, I will add a pyrex bowl with dry sand for him to play with . In the past, I've tried using "live sand" out of my DT but it always ends up smelling like sulfur. Thoughts? |

If the fish is eating or if you can get one small enough no sand won't be a problem for the 13 days. Pieces of rubble would be sufficient for the goby to play around with if you really wanted to be over zealous.

So, I added a few mysis and shut off the air pump. After they had settled to the bottom, he tried to "scoop" them up the way he would do sand. That wasn't working. It took him 5-10 mins to figure it out, but he learned to hover over the mysis and bite from above.
What a relief. This is my first time QT'ing a goby without sand present. |
