Which Apex
Will be using an Apex on my new system. Looking at the Gold which is $799 at BRS, or I could just get the standard for $524 and ad the PM2 and conductivity/salinity probe for an additional $210 ( total of $734). Any reason to spend the extra $65 for the Gold?
Thanks

With the Gold kit, you also get an ORP probe. If you're not interested in ORP, then that's not really a reason to get it, I suppose.
Also... Gold kit upgrades the pH probe from "standard grade" to "lab grade". ORP probe is also "lab grade". How much that's worth to you is probably your call. The way I see it, the Gold kit basically upgrades your probes to "lab grade" for the cost of "standard grade". |

I don't think the gold is really worth it unless you want the lab grade probes, but I have seen a promo (I think BRS) that is offering a free Neptune feeder (afs) when you buy the gold. That's a little better.

I have the standard unit and have just upgraded other modules as I wanted. I didn't feel like spending money for the gold all up front.

As far as ORP, I measure it... but that's it. I have alarms set in case it drops below a certain level, but that's just so I'll take a closer look at the tank to see if something weird is going on. It's kind of like a canary in a coalmine... it can give you a heads up that something isn't right... but that's about it. |
