T5 Bulb Combo Database
OK so I'm not sure if there's something like this already? I thought it would be good to have a place were people can see what different bulb combos look like and what growth and color that combo is getting. So they can decide on what combo will work for them.
It would be great if you guys could list the following: How many bulbs you have and what wattage. List of the bulbs you are running from front to back. A full tank picture showing what the bulb combo looks like and a few closeups of coral color(I know color can depend on a lot of different variables not just light) Brief description of the growth and color you are getting from the bulbs and what do you think could be improved. I think something like this could seriously help someone decide on what bulbs to run-I know it would have made my choosing a lot easier.

Hi mate. In respect of what different bulb combo will look like: due to automatic white balance controls and the nature of white balance itself, it is quite possible that two people with the same tube combo will photograph two completely different looking images in terms of colour; ie one could look so blue, but someone else's camera can white balance different and the resulting image will look quite different. Therefore this is quite unrealistic. In respect of what gives good growth/colour, there are FAR too many variables... I'd say around 50/50 White to Blue T5 tubes provides good results. Either side of that ratio is ultimately a preference. If you read the T5 combo thread which has 100's of pages of combo and useful info you will get a feel of what is the usual combo most people go for. When I get home I will try and find some time to look into your thread and give you some examples of good combos. |

Hey mate I was thinking about that a bit and your definitely right about the white balance being a problem. Thanks for telling me about that thread as well, I'll definitely check it out I also agree that a there are too many variables when it comes to growth/color, not just light.
that would be great if you could do that mate even if its for my own reference down the line
