Keeping Hitchhiker Coral-ish Creatures Alive During Setup
I'm about 4 weeks into the cycling with mostly dry 'live rock' and a few pieces of true live rock. some of the true live rock has some, what I assume to be, coral on it. I'd like to try and keep them alive, but (per the photo), the one on the right is starting to bleach. Temp is 78, salinity is steady at 1.024/1.025 and Nitrates/Nitrites/Ammonia are all zero. No fish, just a few snails, 2 hermits and whatever hitchhikers on the rock (which does include a small urchin). I do have a 108 watt LED light for future coral, so they should be getting enough light. Is the one bleaching? If yes, any suggestions as to how I can help it?
Thanks. |

From what I can see with my old eyes and small picture, looks like nice rock. Keep your parameters as stable as you can and hope for the best. There will always be some die off with a new tank. GL.

SG should be 1.026. You can keep temp at 78 but I would bump it to about 80. Im not so sure about your lighting....
