Hydra 52 Mounting

SUMMARY:

I bought Hydra 52's, but didn't want to pay for the expensive rails, so i just got the hanging kits and used $5 at the hardware store to avoid needing the rails.


DETAILS:

I recently purchased a pair of Hydra 52's.
I wanted to ceiling mount them individually so that I could control the height and roll of the fixtures separately.

It isn't very clear anywhere what your mounting options are and how all the pieces of these go together.

Originally I was told I would need to use EXT Rails in order to use the hanging kit, but because of the fan in the center couldn't use a single rail for each fixture, especially if I didn't want the fixtures connected to each other in any way.
As such I would need 4 six inch rails, which would cost me $100+.

I decided to purchase a hanging kit for each fixture (~$35 each), the EXT hanging kits, but forego the rails just in case I didn't need them.

They arrived and the hanging kits alone won't get you there, so I did a little brainstorming and took a visit to the hardware store.
$5 later this is the solution I came up with.

Per fixture:
x1 EXT Hanging Kit
x2 10-32 ~two inch headless bolt (I just cut the heads off the ones I bought)
x2 10-32 threaded standoff/spacer (also ~2 inches)

Drill a hole in the standoff near the center.
I drilled a 5/32 hole but 11/32 might work just as well if not better.
Then thread the wire through the hanging kit piece and out the hole.
Then the headless bolt goes in the other side and down into the fixture.

(I have since found a thread where someone found Single Module hanging kits that work perfectly, so if you want to save yourself the work, just get those)

Can't figure out how to edit my post, but correction, I drilled a 5/32 hole, and an 11/64 hole will also work well.
