Pink Stylophora loosing tissue from the bottom up.
So my Pink Stylo frag that has been doing great since I bought it a couple months ago is loosing tissue from the bottom up. Looks like something is eating it. I can not find any bugs or worms on it. Anyone have a coral loose tissue in this manner and why? No other sps or softies in that tank having any issues. Anyone ever have hermit crabs or bristle worms snack on Sylo?
Thanks |

75 gallon tank, 4 T5 ATI bulbs, Ca 400, Alk 8.2, Mag 1350. Monthly 30% RO/DI water changes. Temp 78. Feed moderately. All other corals including other SPS all look great. The tissue is disappearing from the bottom up. Above the line of declination the tissue looks fine. Does this bring anything to mind to anyone?

It sounds like STN (slow tissue necrosis)

No one knows exactly what causes STN/RTN. It's slow tissue necrosis. Some think bacterial some think alk swings. I had some in a digitata frag. I read on here someone said cut it off well into the good tissue and re glue it . That worked for me to stop the STN.
However I had some tissue loss on a red dragon ... tried the same method and it didn't work on that one. But i think that one had other issues left from Planaria irritating it. Anyway.. just a thought it may be worth a try.

Thanks for the help. There was not much of the stylo left this morning but I cut off the dead section, put what was left on a new plug and super glued everything except the top and then dipped in Revive. Time will tell.
