Newbie seeks reviews on Nyos 220 skimmer
Hi all,
I'm a total newbie to the hobby & am awaiting the arrival of my 1st ever marine tank It will be a 72"x36"x30" through the wall job with opti white front panel. I'm currently toying between two different skimmers, one tried & tested, the other relatively new on the market. I can't make my mind up between the Deltec sc2560 or the Nyos Quantum 220. The Deltecs have obviously earned their good reputation but as always good things cost. My local FS mentioned I should consider the Nyos Quantum 220. It reads that it should cope with my proposed system (approx.1700L in total between the DS tank & sump) boasting the capability to handle 2000L & it's around £300 sterling cheaper than the Deltec. My main dilemma is the fact that, has it been on the market long enough to have been tested properly. Also I'm struggling to find any reviews on it, which is where you guys/gals come in. If there's anyone who got/using one of these, could you please share your opinions of it so far - good or bad. Looking forward to your replies folks |

I've been told it's made (allegedly/unofficially) by ecotech, how true this is I don't know, but yes it does look good. Just a bit of a risky purchase without any feedback

My new Nyos Quatium 160 arrived last Friday, which I'm going to use in my new Trigger Systems Emerald 34, which arrives tomorrow.
After unboxing my new Nyos skimmer, the build quality is your typical German build....Amazing build quality and the attention to detail is the same. Once I have this puppy up and running, I'll give my comments on it's performance. I'm most certain this skimmer will work beyond my expectation. Thanks, Randy |
