Question about QT

tldr: Quarantined all but 1 fish. now getting a tang. wondering how safe DT is.

Hi. I have a question about QT. I'm thinking about picking up my last fish, a yellow tang. the tang will go in QT first.

Most of my previous fish were QT. Except the mandarin (no QT needed) and the flasher wrasse. the wrasse was in a previous owner's QT for a few weeks, and I got it in a rush without setting up a QT. So I tossed it in the DT directly.

everybody is healthy so far (for 2 months now). but i can't be sure if my tank is ich free. Is there any other way of guaranteeing the main DT will be ich free? beside taking all fish out to QT and run fallow 72 days??

I'm really afraid of the tang getting ich. They seem to catch it the most.. I'd rather not get that fish if I can't guarantee the tank will be ich free.

If you have not added a fish in 2 months and there is no sign of ich, then the tank is ich free, otherwise the fish would have shown signs of ich. In essence you quarantined the fish in your display tank.
