Hi all, I filled my tank yesterday with nsw and today I added a piece of liverock that had 2 hermit crabs hiding in it. What are the odds that they'll survive?

I also found a few hiding on my rock when I first set up my tank last year and they made it through just fine.

In my experience hermit crabs are very hardy and have survived a tank cycle.

I've seen bubble coral and xenia, various algaes, sponges, mushrooms, worms, crabs, and snails survive a cycle.

Thanks guys, my wife will be happy to hear this.
Should I worry about feeding them? I'm anticipating it being a month or more before I add fish. |

I would be adding some sort of nutrient source to get the cycle going anyway but they'll just scavenge dead stuff and algae off of the rocks.

Thanks Wry, it's just one rock. I'm not sure how much it weighs. I bought it at petco for $25, they don't sell by the pound. I have 50 lbs of base rock coming tomorrow, but it's dry. I bought the one liverock to cycle the tank and seed the base rock. Should I still add a nutrient source?
