You'll see that a lot of folks use Jager Eheim heaters. Personally I bought 2 x 200 watt ViaAqua titanium heaters last night for my 125. Read a lot of good them about them.

There are none. All hobby heaters are using cheap materials as far as the sensor, that is the result of the market wanting 20 dollar heaters Your best bet is to get a dedicated temperature controller like a Ranco, and use 2 or more smaller heaters with it. They are only about $50.

Set the Ranco at the temperature you want, with the heaters 2 degrees higher. I would be more worried about heaters sticking on than off, since most houses are around 72 degrees with pumps/lights adding a couple more degrees. Heaters sticking on are a disaster.

^^This.

Ehiem Jager heaters are probably as good as they get.

My ehiem Jager runs a little hot so make sure you monitor the heat coming off of it with a thermometer and adjust the temperature accordingly. I have used the Via aqua as well, they are nice too...just for the non breakable factor.

+1 heater controller is almost a must anymore. Heaters fail that 50 dollar controller is worth way more than a tank crash.
