BRS Rox in NextReef MR1

Anyone able to tell what is the best way to make this carbon media work in this reactor? Black sponges in it are garbage and do not stay in place at all and the Rox are kind of small so they go around and even through them fairly easy.

While with little rox in the chamber they will eventually settle at the bottom and won't float up to exit the reactor, BRS label suggests to not let it tumble. So I have to secure the carbon somehow. For now I've cut out my own pair of sponges that fit much better and do simply float up as you fill the chamber, but I wonder if there is some better solution, as the sponge I've used has very small pores and could possibly clog pretty quick (it's Poret 45 PPI 2" thick foam).

Other solution I can think of is BRS mesh filter sock, but it would be a little hard to spread it all around the chamber evenly so the water does not have an easy path through it without going through the carbon.

Thank you!

I usually just try to fill the MR1 slowly and make sure the plastic disc is on top of the black filter pad. The disc helps to hold the filter pad in place. Although I have still had it float up, but usually the carbon ends up settling down and I don't put enough flow through it to tumble it.
I suppose you could put a dab or two of silicone on the edge of the plastic disc (let it dry) to make it a tighter/grippier fit inside the reactor.

Hmm few pieces of live rock on top of that white plate could work to keep it all down

I just refilled the ROX carbon in my MR1 last night, the way I usually do it is 1:3 rox/blackdiamond carbon and sandwich the pads and white disks to keep it from tumbling.

I do this because of the issues you are running into.
