New 20 Gallon Reef Tank
Just started up a new 20 gallon reef tank, not much in there yet.
Looking for ideas on what to add figured hearing about everyones favorite coral on here would be a good place to start. |

My first coral was blue mushroom and they grow very quickly. They don't require much flow and you don't need to site feed them. Mine have split heads multiple times and grow much quicker since I feed them reef roids but this is not required. Many people will tell you xenia is it grows quickly and likes "dirty water". But I would not recommend this. This coral can take over your tank and kill others. You should look at ricordea, mushrooms, and softies to start out with. Some chalices, palys, and zoas are good too.

Sorry about the long delay. Thanks for the input. I've had a tank previously which I started in a similar way to what you're describing. I'd like to avoid weed corals this time but I'm just not sure which direction to go. Maybe I'll take a look at some chalices palys etc. Currently my tank has frogspawn, candy cane, duncan and a very small piece of the "weed" coral I am now planning to avoid (purple cesiptularia). Growing like a weed in my dads tank currently.
As for reef roids I haven't heard of this. Do you think it works/ would you recommend it? |
