Jebao RW-8 Quit Working - Advice
Hi Folks,
Before purchasing jebaos I read reviews online that pretty much said they quit after a certain length of time. Most people reported them quitting after about a year, so I figured they were worth the price for a year of service. I purchased two rw-8 pumps in September. One is working, one is not. I contacted the company where I bought them, and they thought it was a controller issue so they sent me a new one. It's still not working. However, the old controller I have is confirmed to have an issue because it cannot run the working powerhead. The new controller can run the working pump successfully, and everything works. However the 2nd pump with the issue just won't go. If I put it on W1 I can see it moving just the teeniest bit, so I don't know what's going on. I took it all apart, cleaned it really good, put it back together and still nothing. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas what to try? The pumps are not dirty and do not have any coralline or calcium build up what-so-ever. Any advice would be appreciated. |

+1 on the pwr supply. You should be able to find a replacement pwr supply (maybe even less voltage if you want to slow the pump down a bit) at Frys, Radio Shack, etc.

my WP25s both died after about 14 months of use. They were both working fine. I sold on of them to a friend, and it died on him. A week later, mine keep sputtering on the wave functions and finally died. I can only get it to work on constant speed now.
I want to replace it, but not sure if I want to get another wp25/RW8 or just save up the money for a tunze/ecotech. I do not have any advice for you, but just wanted to share a similar story. |

I used the power supply from the working powerhead (I have two) and the power supply is fine.
Whatever the issue is seems to be in the pump itself. This pump has only been in use for 3 months, I was hoping to get a year out of them. I refuse to buy a vortech because I think they are insanely overpriced for what they do. I have two koralias here that are fine, so I have backup... I just thought maybe someone else had a similar experience and could offer some advice. |

The customer service from Jaebo I have always found to be excellent, I won't buy any of these over priced prima donnas, if I get a year out of the cheap ones, I win ⛄️ If I don't get a year I complain and they replace them ⛄️ Win win win win.

Well what im wondering is why are the pumps slowing down to a point where they can't spin the prop ? Just seems like a power issue I have one that I can't turn off or it will turn off and need me to move it to start it again with the power on.

Pay now or later, in the end it's all evens out. My 6 year old mp40 has an avg cost of under $65 a year. Hope it makes it another 4 years.
Glad they are taking care of you.

FWIW, Jebao customer service is non existent. The few people that bought Jebaos when the first came out before they were being sold through Fish Street and Reef Breeders in North America were charged by Jebao for warranty replacement parts. Now that's a great way of taking care of customers and backing your products. If if were not for companies like Fish Street or Reef Breeders, you would most certainly be singing a different tune about the service because Jebao could care less about you or your tank let alone building a quality product that is built to last. I don't have any RW's, but I know that my WP's have a front ceramic bearing. Make sure you are removing it from the shaft and cleaning the shaft and bearing interior as it can stop it from spinning if it is fouled too much. When I re-assembled one of the DC2000's and put it back into service it was noisy. Then I noticed I had 2 front bearings still in my vinegar bath. Dennis

My rw-8 didn't make it 4 months before it started to have issues. Sputtering, cleaning, and it still continue with this stopping, pulling the power, starting, running a day or two, stopping. I got a new impeller and that didn't help much, same issue.
My MP10, 2 years and running great. I expect a few years before a PH would die. I am 0 for 2 with Jebao products lasting more than 6 months. If I purchase another RW8, I will be at 120.00 for less than 6 months. I bought mine on Amazon and waiting for the seller to respond. Jebao won't consider me because I didn't purchase from them. As much as I want to save money, throwing good money at a Jebao I think is a waste. rich |

Buy cheap buy twice. Learned that a long time ago. You get what you paid for. I would pay extra for quality than quantity.
