Kessil a160 LED
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew about these lights. I have a 55 gallon tank and want to start growing corals. Will 2 of these be sufficient for this tank?

I have no experence with those lights but for 100.00 I am loving the look of everything under the cheap 165 or 120 watt Chinese LEDs

yes, two kessils should cover a 55 nicely. i have a buddy with a 55 and two of the 150's over it. i was asking him about it the other day and he said they're great, the only thing he is missing out on is the ramp up/down that the 160s provide.
he has a true mixed reef, everything from z's and p's to acans, acros, and everything in between. grows nicely. my LFS also recently started using the kessils on their frag system. so far, so good. although i think they're using a different model than the 150/160. just remember to acclimate properly during the switch. LED's can easily fry stuff if you ramp them up too fast. enjoy!

That would depend on your plans for what you want to keep and your rockwork. Not sure what the coverage is on the 150's. I run two 360WE's over my 40B. But I am also running SPS heavy. That being said, Im running them at 80% for my peak lighting and still ramping up. If you are planning on only doing soft coral or lower light lps, i would think they would be fine. If you are planning more light demanding coral, i would look towards their more powerful models or a different fixture.
On the other hand, you can always add more 150's for not too much more $ if you require it later on. Check with kessil and see what they say about coverage and penetration on the 150's. |

Personally, as a photographer i dont like kessils.
Too much "spot" lighting which causes heavy shadowing from a viewing perspective unless of course they were mounted closer to the front of the tank angled inward a bit. I think kessils combined with a t5 would look sweeeeet
