Can I run the drain lines directly beneath the sump water line?

Trying to quiet the splash noise going into the sump?

I presume there's a purpose for the water splashing into the sump?

Air ?

Can I do this?

Thanx in advance

Running the drain under the waters surface and into a felt sock will quiet the splashing sound

Look up "P trap" (like under your sink). I for one prefer the sound of water running over gurgles in the plumbing due to trapped air. It takes time to tune the drain for balance.

I have a basement setup. Drain lines are submerged below the sump water level. Be sure you have oversized drain lines though! I have 1" bulkheads that adapt at the tank to 1.5" lines.

Only slightly below the water level tho. If they are too deep you could risk too much back pressure on the lines thus slowing down your drain. I just had this issue. I cut mine and back have no more issues.

True that. The requirements sort of depend on the architecture. With a 15' drop in my case, that isn't much of an issue. Gravity really helps!

Thanx everyone for your responses... seems below the sump surface is the norm... that being the case... why in the world would the sump manufacturers build the sump with sock holders above the waterline... seem they should at least be at the water line min...

here's a link to my sump:

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...m?pcatid=24529

Mine is the R200 on a 150 with dual overflows... matter of fact I removed the socks because the design is soooo poor if you do not do an every other day sock change the water would overflow and splash out the back of the sump.
