Help please
I dont know now if I have a Male or female Leopard wrasse.
When I bought it I was told It was a Female. I send a picture to my friend that has a LFS to get me a Male to pair out with Her, And She told me its a male That I have it. Now Im confused If this one its a Male or female. Can you guys Help me? And if you have a picture of the one that I should be looking now would help a lot This one its the one I have:

IMO this looks like a female wrasse to me. I admittedly never had a leopard wrasse before but have 2 Christmas wrasses one male and one female and the distinction is apparent. The body shape of this wrasse is what makes me think this is a female wrasse.

before you can ask if it's male or female you need to know the species. the Macropharyngodon genus has 12 recognized species with tons of regional variation, many of which look very similar. The term 'leopard wrasse' is kind of a catch all that describes many different species.
How big is it? If it's quite small you're pretty much guaranteed that it's female. If left on it's own it will go through a sex change as it grows and become a 'terminal' phase male. check out this list and see if yours looks like any of the pics: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/macropharyngodon.htm |

That's a male. The females are white with leopard spots. Very distrinct. Yours is a very nice looking male.
