TUNZE osmolator ( ATO ) problem !
Hello RC,
I bought a TUNZE ATO system for my 500+ gallon system and hooked it up to my sump in the basement fish room. It seems to function normally, turning on and off and supplying water to the tank. The problem is by the end of the day (everyday) the "too low" light on the far left is lights up red and then it fails to pump any more water in or work at all. If I fill the tank up back to level and unplug the TUNZE it begins working again as needed but eventually by the end of the day shuts down due to the "too low" light on the far left. I have cleaned the sensor and tried everything but can't figure this one out. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance- JIM |

When the pump does kick on, how long is the pump running? I guess it's possible that if the area where the sensor is mounted has a very large volume, maybe it's not able to pump enough water to get the level back up? Just throwing a guess out there.
That said, my osmolator did something similar. It started off occasionally saying "too low". After cycling the power, it would seem to work fine. Eventually it happened more and more...I thought it was a weak/dying pump so I replaced it; same result. Eventually the controller quit turning on altogether. I ditched it and got a different brand. Hope you have better luck!

flow rate and/or run time can be adjusted inside the unit to fit your particular needs. I think the instructions include directions on how to adjust these as well. Tunze support thread is a great place for this question.

I experienced a issue with the "too low" light a couple weeks back. Somehow my line got submerged in the sump and it was creating a back siphon to the ATO bucket. The pump would come on/off alot over an hours time.
Is your tubing submerged in the sump? Hope this helps. |

In fact I had to raise it well above the sump by about 5 feet because it needed to be higher than my reservoir. It seems to function just fine but when I wake up in the morning it is always on low with a red light. I will check the adjustment on the unit and see if that helps, JIM |

I think the ATO has a 10 minute max run as a protection against a flood. So..... maybe it's running longer than the 10 minutes? Turning it up to max flow might solve your problem if the timeout is in fact the problem.
