RO/DI water changing ppm after transfer?

Hello all,

I am freaking out because I just noticed my TDS meter is giving me interesting readings after moving water from my 5 gallon JUG to a bucket I use for mixing. The water in my 5 gallon JUG gives me 0-1PPM at all times when I check it. After I transfer it to my mixing bucket (Not mixed yet) and let sit for a day my TDS meter reads 109ppm.... Is this normal from a bucket that i have used to mix before? I clean it out after every transfer with just tap water but its completely dry when I transfer. Only thing also in the bucket is a heater to bring to temp up. Totally confused by this.

Salt residue in the bucket would cause this.

Also residue from the tap water maybe. Do you have hard water by any chance.

I guess I am not sure what you mean by hard water? I clean the bucket and dry it with a towel. If the salt is the factor I shouldnt have to worry about using it then correct? saltwater will give a false reading with a tds meter if I am correct.
