Is it possible to have to clean of water??
I have had my tank running for about 2 years now. 20 with a 10 fuge/sump. I can keep sps and lps but softies just shrivle up and die after time. All my params always check out. About to give up on softies all together

yes it is very possible to not have enough nutrients. how much do you feed the tank?

I cannot keep soft corals other then Zoas in my tank. some mushrooms have seems to do ok but fuzzy mushrooms die, leathers all die in weeks. I am sure its because of my water. It is very clean and my light is very strong.

Yes. I had a ultra low nutrient system (lightly stocked) and couldn't keep LPS because my water was too clean. My SPS suffered as well. If you want to run a LNS, you have to make sure you are feeding your corals. My best success has been high import, high export systems. If you do high import, low export you get nutrient problems. If you do the opposite, low import, high export your corals starve. You have to find the right balance.

i had the same issue for a couple years as the people above. once i let my tank 'get dirty' a little (really just meaning allowing NO3 and PO4 to get above 0 a bit), everything started doing well in my tank.
i couldnt even keep macro algae alive for a little while, big hint that things were not optimum.

Mhm, as with everyone else. The key to great water quality and health is not keeping it all pristine, it's actually providing all the nutrients necessary for growth, but also the capacity to deal with all those nutrients. Which also means that generally if parameters are off, the key is not to lower feeding, but improve filtration, if one is not overfeeding.

I used to really work at keeping the water in my SPS tank as pristine as possible. My SPS did OK, but once I let the phosphates come up just a smidge, along with the Nitrates, the SPS colored up noticeably and the growth went through the roof. Still can't keep softies, but have a second tank for that. Almost no filtration and the softies are in heaven!
