Coralife SS 125 Leak
I know I'll get the stock "replace it" post but I'll ask anyways! I have a small leak happening on my coralife skimmer right at the neck where the cup can be taken off when the water level reaches it. If I mess with it enough I eventually get it to stop, but I don't have that much time to play with it when I clean out the cup. I'm assuming that the o-ring is either inefficient or has had some damage and needs to be replaced.
Has anyone done any mods in that area to improve the seal? I'm looking for a fix for the present problem. When funds allow it I will be improving my skimmer in the future with a replacement.

Go the hardware store and take the original O ring with you, see if you can match it up.
However, if it was me I would have an overwhelming feeling of stupidity realizing I am actually making an effort to repair a corallife "super skimmer". Throw the skimmer in the trash and put an airstone in your sump till a decent used skimmer pops up for a fair price. |

That's what I figured. I wonder if there is an o-ring that has a thicker diameter that would help with the seal. I'll check it out.
It actually skims nicely and a quick fix would help immensely for the time being so I don't mind feeling "stupid". Again I'm looking to upgrade at a later date but it would be nice to have a decent, functioning skimmer currently pulling out gunk. It works! Just leaks a little and my OCD kicks in.

Its all good, if you can't find the right size of O-ring you could always try a doubled up heavy duty rubberband, I have temp fixed an ASM G3 this way once when the O ring wore out.

I have trouble seeing where the o-ring "wears out." I'm guessing the cup being taken off and put on compresses the ring and wears it out? Just seems weird to me.
